Some time ago, I was just starting my makeup phase were I went and wanted every piece of makeup possible not matter how much it costed. I was searching for a way to explain my take on the makeup and how to review it and put my input out there. Then I found the blogging world and was surprised at how much was already out there, my creative juices were flowing and I was thinking of a name for my blog. But that was all I knew that I needed at that time It would of been great if someone could of said “hey here is how to start and blog and manage it” but no… that wasn’t something I came across back in 2012. Also at that time when I was first starting it was purely a hobby for me and I was enjoying it, reading comments taking some suggestions and giving my advice on the makeup products & skincare items.
This blog sure didn’t start out the way it looks now all nice and formal and easy to navigate because I had no idea what I was doing I think thats called a learning curve. It all started with a name.blogspot.com because I had no clue about domain names an hosting and how it all worked. So I played it safe and stuck a blogger platform name first and once I was catching on to the blogosphere I moved up to an actual paid domain name. More on this later but if you have ever wanted to start a blog and have no clue where to start like I did well its your lucky day I’m here to help.

Starting a Blog: A Step-by-Step Guide
I recommend starting with a self hosted website such as host Gator * ,why? This type of site will give you control over your blog, there is a small cost involved but will be worth it to have the freedom and control over your own blog. First thing you need to do is set up your self hosted blog on Host Gator is select your domain name and hosting.
1) Select a Domain name and register it
You throwing any name attached to your work is pointless you want it to be meaningful and represent your brand well. You’ll want something that fits your brand, your blog and is unique to you, if you want to do well your’ll want your name to stand out in a good way. Head on over to Lean Domain Search to help you pick a domain name and if your bored on a friday night it can be some fun entertainment too.
Now that you have the perfect domain name, you now need to register it so no one else can take it. This part can be exciting because you finally own your own website name, Congrats It is best to register your domain name and get hosting all in one because it ends up being cheaper and you may get a free domain name when you purchase a hosting package. The end goal should be to keep things simple and not complicated it even more by getting a domain in one spot and hosting in another. If you would like to register your domain name separately then feel free to use Name Cheap for your domain.
2) Pick a hosting provider
This can be a tough decision as you want one that you can trust and won’t let you down, some providers services aren’t the best and their customer service department is even worse, so go with one that will hold up there end of the bargain after all your paying them to run your website. If your just starting out there is no need to go to a complicated hosting service as it isn’t needed at this time, stick to something simple such as Host Gator *, once your blog starts getting 10’s of thousands of page views a day thats when your website may crash because of your hosting. Thats when you up your hosting game.. more on that later.
If you don’t have the budget for a big hosting package no worries there are plenty of basic packages out there to serve your blog sufficiently. Starting as low as $3.96/month host gator offers 1 single domain, one click installs, unmetered bandwidth and shared SSL certificate in their hatchling plan. Host Gator * has great speed and really good service, once your site starts to get some decent amount of traffic you may notice things start to slow down a bit. Thats when you can upgrade your hosting to a big package. If you sign up now for Hosting at 36 months it is $3.96/month WOW!
“We offer a full range of hosting packages as well as Award Winning 24/7/365 support via phone, email, and LiveChat.
